devon's nature in art - Work Detail: Green Man of April

I am fascinated by the carved wooden roof bosses in many of our ancient Churches and thought why not paint a green man symbol. Hence this picture which I painted during the month of April gathering the freshly opening buds and leaves and adding to it the various butterflies, insects etc that I saw on my walks for inspiration.Although not an exact likeness the face is based on that of the musician Brian Eno.
